Darlene Dort

Darlene Dort

Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

In her final year of Graduate Studies in Philosophy at St. Mary’s University, Ms. Dort left Canada’s Ocean Playground and drove across the country in the fall of 1992. She worked in Northern BC for a local Indian Band with youth and adults students. She settled in the lower mainland working for a local First Nation before returning to academia to study law.

Ms. Dort graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1999 with a specialization in Marine Law. She articled in British Columbia at a small general practice firm with an emphasis on personal injury and thereafter she briefly remained as an associate. During the next couple of years, she began to develop her skills in real estate and financing, and general solicitor matters. She practiced in the Fraser Valley with a mid-size firm honing her skills predominately in conveyancing, including purchases and sales, refinancing, and private lending. During that time and since then, her experience has expanded and includes secured lending, estate planning, business and corporate advice, leasing and corporate transactions.

Ms. Dort has provided numerous lectures and presentations on lending, wills, estate planning, and planning for retirement. She taught Business Law at Simon Fraser University until 2010 and has been a guest lecturer for the Law Society for a number of years.

Ms. Dort calls Langley home and is happy to be back in the Valley serving the Fraser Valley community.
